Your First Aesthetic Medicine Consultation: What to Expect

The first consultation is the most important part of the whole process. Knowing what to expect helps you come in with the right questions.

Published: Updated:

Your first aesthetic medicine consultation is probably the most important part of the entire process. Yet many people come in without knowing what to expect or how to make the most of it.

What typically happens at the first consultation

The physician evaluates the face (or area of concern), asks about your medical history, medications, goals, and expectations. Treatment doesn't necessarily happen that same day — often the first consultation is diagnostic and focused on planning.

Questions worth bringing in

  • What treatment actually makes sense for what's bothering me?
  • How long does it last? How many sessions?
  • What aftercare will I need?
  • What result is realistic to expect?
  • What happens if I'm not happy with the result?

What shouldn't happen

Being pressured into a decision the same day. Not being given time to ask questions. Being promised impossible results. Not having a clear plan before anything starts.

A good start looks like this

If you leave the consultation feeling heard, with a clear plan and no pressure, that's already a good sign you're in the right place. Medical trust is built from that very first meeting.
