How to Choose an Aesthetic Medicine Clinic

Choosing the right clinic and provider matters just as much as choosing the right treatment.

Published: Updated:

Deciding where to have an aesthetic treatment is as important as deciding what treatment to have. The provider's training, the products they use, and how they support the process through to the end make a huge difference in outcomes.

Start with the physician

Aesthetic medicine is a specialty that requires specific training. There's a real difference between a physician with certified postgraduate credentials in aesthetic procedures and someone who attended a weekend workshop. Before any treatment, check the credentials of the person who will be treating you.

The products they use

There's a meaningful difference between products certified by the country's health authority (ANMAT in Argentina, FDA in the U.S.) and products of uncertain origin that come at a lower cost. A significantly lower price often signals a compromise in product quality.

How they support you through the process

A good clinic includes a genuine initial consultation, a clear treatment plan, post-procedure follow-up, and availability to address questions. There shouldn't be pressure to close a sale the same day as the consultation.

Red flags to watch for

  • Prices significantly below market without a clear explanation.
  • Pressure to decide on the spot.
  • No real medical consultation before treatment.
  • No post-procedure follow-up protocol.

Taking the time to research and having a consultation before committing is always a worthwhile investment.
